Funding a Dream…

I know I haven’t been posting much but the reality is I have been very focused on my health and making life realizations. I still play with yarn – not as often as I would like due to work, but I’m making more time for it because it is part of my very fiber (pun intended hehe).

My husband lost his job in December which has put us into a place of discussion and discovery.

My family is helping me get something going – its been a dream of mine to be in a position to help animals and now I think I’m ready. My dream: start an animal sanctuary. I want to live and promote a cruelty-free, self-sustainable lifestyle.

I am asking that you visit my GoFundMe page and consider a donation – but please, if anything, just share. When you share the page, GoFundMe marks the more popular initiates as “trending” and moves them up. Even without a donation, sharing helps us get seen. Of course, I have to say “every little bit helps” – because it does.

I appreciate your reading this message and this blog.

Besides, if I can get this sanctuary going, I know any abused or discarded alpacas will find a home with me…. and I will spin their fleece and knit it into yummy things.

God Bless.

2018

I have taken entirely too much time away from the blog in the last year or so – why? a combination of things from surgery to depression, excess working and husband job loss. My 2017, like many others, read as a roller coaster of emotions, opportunities, and struggles. All in all, I do not know the direction of this blog – I do continue to play with fiber (in many different ways), but I have so much more I wish to share.

In the next few days I know I will come up with some bit of direction, its just a matter of thinking on it and making sure its good for all involved. I wish it were as easy as just changing the name of the blog – but when I moved from Blogger to WordPress, that was several days of just plain hellish work (so many links and patterns in the web-world to change… oh. so. many.). I am pretty sure I do not want to do that again *laughs*

Perhaps I’ll spend more time over at Me v2 – no clue. But I do know I have many words I want to share and a journey of self … a continuing transformation, I think people would value to read-a-long, to know they are not alone.

But… time is running low, along with my energy for the day – so I’m going to log out. I’ll be back in a day or two :)

God Bless and Happy New Year!

Please Help…

Dearest Readers –

I know its been a LONG time since my last update. I am doing well; however, today’s post is not about me. It’s about getting the word out on financial help needed by my sister-in-law’s brother named Brian.

Brian was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia on May 30th and has been in the hospital since undergoing chemotherapy. He has had a second bone biopsy which shows his white counts are growing so he is now undergoing a “constant drip” of chemotherapy at an elevated dose.

The purpose of the GoFundMe page linked below is to help with finances during and after his stay, mostly medical bills. Brian does not have insurance and is not being approved for state assistance (although they are doing their best to get that to work).

This is one of those things that every little bit helps. if you are able to donate – that would be fantastic! But, in today’s technology, if you cannot donate, its just as helpful if you could share this to your Facebook wall to get the word out. Of course, anyone can take a moment to send good thoughts and prayers to him and his family – and that’s just as valuable!

Thank you for your time – I hope you will consider a donation to the fund or a share to your Facebook wall.

God bless.

New Blog – but this one remains

I wanted to drop a note here that I am going to be maintaining two blogs (what?!?!)

I felt the purpose of this blog has gotten off point – something that was just to be the fiber in me turned into rants and reflections on my health. So, in order to bring this one back to what its supposed to be – I decided to start a second blog.

https://mev2blog.wordpress.com/

Me v2.0 will share information, recipes, reviews, and reflections for me and my health journey. I hope that some of you will choose to follow me over there (but if not, I understand – fiber is pretty awesome!).

[Journal] Yup… more personal

Whelshawlp… I am still alive and I’m actually pretty darn healthy. I really do need to take a new personal photo because that one doesn’t exactly represent who I am anymore.

I’m down 20 pounds from my January post and a lot less than when this photo was taken.

But weight is not the reason for my changes, as any of you who read my blog regularly would know. If you do not know, allow me to reference you back to my last couple posts. I’ll wait while you read. Just let me know when you are ready to continue here. Read the rest of this entry »

[Journal] 2017 Post Number Two…

shawlWell – good news: I have not fallen off the face of the Earth. I’m still around – just busy as can be and trying to be as focused as possible.

Succeeding at any of it? Not so much.

This is a pretty depressing journal entry. I do feel like I’ve lost myself (and my mind) a wee bit and I just need to get some crap down on virtual paper. Read the rest of this entry »

[Journal] 2017….

shawlI had hoped my first post to the blog in 2017 would be a fantastic fiber review of all things amazing from 2016… but nope. In fact, this ends up being a non-fiber, journal type post simply because my focus in the last week has taken a drastic turn to my health and well-being. Read the rest of this entry »

FO Friday… (aka: wholly schnockers – I finished something!)

wp-1480257278100.jpgSomehow, on a Friday, I finished something… something big. And there is no way that I’m waiting a whole other week to announce it just to make the post on a Friday. No way, no how. Read the rest of this entry »

In which I dye…

In the last month or so, I spent ample amount of time learning to dye with kool-aid. I spent time with my friend, who has a plethora of chemical dyes, but I wanted to take a step into the more natural before going completely apocolyptic with forging for nuts, berries, and bark (I know that day is coming, I can feel it in meh bones).  Read the rest of this entry »

Playing with yarn…

nyx-playingI’m sure this is one of those topics that fiber bloggers have written about multiple times… Heck, I may have even blogged about it before. I’d have to go look.

But – hey, why not once more?

What is the draw of fiber artists to cats? Its not like they make fiber life easy. Heck, sometimes they can make it darn near impossible – so much so that I know I have put my yarn away due to cat. Read the rest of this entry »
