FO Friday… (aka: wholly schnockers – I finished something!)

wp-1480257278100.jpgSomehow, on a Friday, I finished something… something big. And there is no way that I’m waiting a whole other week to announce it just to make the post on a Friday. No way, no how. Read the rest of this entry »

WIP Wednesday… what?!?

I seem to be on a bit of a roll with posting regularly but I definitely do not want to jinx it. *laughs*

So for me – just giving a brief update on my current projects. Read the rest of this entry »

A new go-to

wp-1474673235206.jpgI have mentioned before, actually I think I brought this up in the last 6 months, about how I have always wanted to have a stash of baby blankets pre-made so that when a friend or family member came up ‘in a family way’ I would not be left scrambling to make a gift for the shower.

For some reason, in the last I don’t know how many years, I never once thought “hey, does it really have to be a baby blanket.” I’m known for thinking outside the box, but this one got me. I was so far in the box I think I was actually caught somewhere between the box and the floor. Read the rest of this entry »

Ah… Tour De Fleece (until we meet again)

I frequently find my real life takes over any time I can hand over to the fiber arts. I am trying to change that but I seem to be in a never-ending push pull type battle with myself. Example, until this passed Monday, I had not knit for 3 weeks.  Read the rest of this entry »

WIP Wednesday and Other Random Thoughts

I have no 3a22f-wip_wednesdayidea what to share. I used to be so organized – now I’m just so “here”

From my last post  – I have yet to find the elusive lost sock. Kinda miffed about that. It really was is one of my favorites. I have not yet gone through all shirts and pants, sticking my arm in and felching around. That is the next step.

Hope is not yet lost. Read the rest of this entry »

Finally a Finished Project

fingerless1This year has been a relatively strange year for me. Work is exciting and busy. Family life is exciting and busy. Fiber life has almost stalled. I have done some spinning, which was nice. I have done a little crochet – that is nice too. Of course, I would like to be doing a lot more than I am. Read the rest of this entry »

WIP Wednesday ends with F.O.

It has been a LONG LONG time since I posted a WIP Wednesday – tonight I felt like I should but I did a little WIP work before posting, which ended up being an F.O. out of the deal.

Can I get a woo hoo?

Learning to Spin

first bobbin ever

I really do fathom myself a fiber artist although I do agree I spend entirely too much time at my day job and then, when not at work, wandering around the house attempting to fake being a good housekeeper. I have nailed “awesome mom” though – no faking it there!

For our anniversary, The Man was sweet enough to get me my first spinning wheel. Keep in mind, I have attempted to drop spindle (which ended rather “eh” if you ask me). While I can do it, I do not do it to textbook (in that I park and draft, park and draft, way too much for the expert drop spindler) nor am I at all quick about it. To get a few yards of single ply yarn, I am pretty sure I saw at least 8 seasons go by. Read the rest of this entry »

Negative Knitting

sweater 1This.. has turned into a bigger ball of yarn – well, not all of it. Hmmm technically not even this. This is the back panel. Just the newly started front panel is back on the ball of yarn. Read the rest of this entry »

Dying … yarn.

In the last month, I have extended my fiber artistry (dare I be so bold to use the word artistry?) to include yarn dying. Granted, I’m only scratching the surface but – scratched the surface is! Read the rest of this entry »
